Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale, maximizing selling opportunities while minimizing risk to the business. The Cashier must perform till procedures efficiently, accurately, and courteously, ensuring the security of all receipts and till contents at all times.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier at TimberCity Rustenburg, you will be expected to:
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service throughout their shopping experience
- Ring up purchases accurately and process various payment methods including cash, cards, and vouchers
- Issue correct receipts and handle customer transactions with professionalism and care
- Maximize selling opportunities through basic product knowledge and positive customer engagement
Transaction Management
- Balance the till accurately at the start and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions are accounted for
- Maintain security of all receipts and till contents, following company cash handling procedures
- Process exchanges and returns according to company policy and procedure
- Handle customer queries and escalate complex issues to supervisors when necessary
Store Operations & Brand Representation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area
- Uphold and promote the company values and culture in all customer interactions
- Assist with general store duties and support colleagues during peak periods

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Proficiency in English (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays
- Helpful and polite demeanor with strong customer focus
- Basic computer skills and numerical ability
Advantageous Qualifications
- 2-3 years cashier experience in a retail environment
- Building material product knowledge
